Creating ILIAS Learning Modules Offline with eLAIX

The open source learning management system ILIAS offers an integrated authoring system to create learning modules online without no additional software. But even offline creation of ILIAS learing modules is possible thanks to the OpenOffice extension “iLEX”. Now this tool has been redesigned and published as “eLAIX” by Harry Boldt.

logo eLAIX

eLAIX is a real OpenOffice-AddOn that allows you to convert OpenOffice.org text documents into ILIAS 3 learning packages. After the conversion an exported eLAIX package can be imported into ILIAS as a ready to go learning unit. It is possible to edit such a learning module with the ILIAS online authoring tool as well.
Like OpenOffice.org, eLAIX is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS and is published under the GPL. The software is available at www.boldt-media.de.

With eLAIX you can:

  • create ILIAS learning units without the need of beeing online,
  • easily structure, format and arrange content with a professional Office Suite,
  • transfer a document to an ILIAS importable learning package with a mouseclick.
  • easily transfer existing documents like MS Word documents to the ILIAS platform,
  • use a single document for multiple purposes (pdf, DocBook, doc, html, xml, etc.).

For more information please visit the eLAIX website at www.boldt-media.de.
